TRIO Paradis will bring a Spanish flavour to their first café concert of the year in Keynsham.
The players – Jacquelyn Bevan on piano, Lisa Betteridge violin and Linda Stocks cello – will perform a programme called Iberia at St John’s Church Hall on Friday January 26.
This collection of music by Spanish composers aims to bring some sunshine to the dampest of January days, including Turina’s Circulo – a musical depiction of dawn to dusk under the Spanish sun – and works by de Falla, Albeniz, Pauline Viardot and others.
The trio performs at the church hall on the last Friday of each month (except December), with the music starting at 1pm.
The informal, feel-good, community event, with a pop-up café, opens from 12.15pm, allowing attendees to meet friends and make new ones over tea or coffee and home-made cakes, as well as enjoying live music.
The concerts last about 45 minutes and entrance is free, with a pay-what-you-feel retiring collection.
There is no need to book but people are advised to turn up early to be sure of a table – and the best choice of cake – as these concerts are very popular.
