PLANS for a pizza takeaway on the Rockhill Estate in Keynsham have been withdrawn.
The proposal to change the use of Unit 9A from a class-E commercial property was submitted to Bath & North East Somerset Council last autumn.
The unit on the estate, off the Wellsway road, is the registered address of Milano’s Pizza Keynsham Ltd.
The proposed opening hours were 11am to 11pm seven days a week. The plans also included an extractor flue at the front of the property.
But more than 20 residents registered concerns over parking and noise.
One said: “This unit, along with several more on the site, has no allocated parking. Also, there is nowhere to put waste bins externally. The extractor fan would be overhanging my land and I would not give permission for this to be installed.”
Council planning officers acknowledged that notice had not been served on the affected owner as part of the application, so with some of the proposed site falling outside the applicant’s ownership, they were unable to issue a decision.
The B&NES Council highways team objected to the plans on highways safety grounds, as did Keynsham Town Council, which said the entrance/exit to the estate has very poor visibility.
The town council also said there was too little parking for a takeaway and that allowing the takeaway could pave the way for any industry occupying the unit in future.
