Have your say on Keynsham play area revamp

RESIDENTS are being asked what they would like to see in the refurbishment of the Park Road play area.

Keynsham Town Council says it wants to give the play area some “much-needed TLC” and would like local people to fill in an online survey to help shape the improvements.

The survey can be found at https://forms.office.com/e/REy4cA8WeV

The deadline is Saturday February 28, but it is understood that this deadline may be extended for further feedback.

The town council hopes the Park Road scheme will “ignite conversations” around the Memorial Park refurbishment, a project being overseen by Bath & North East Somerset Council that is due to be completed in July.

Local Labour councillors have backed the town council’s decision to upgrade the Park Road play area but say they are concerned over the delay at the Memorial Park.

Labour town councillor Martin Burton said: “We welcome the decision to invest in the Park Road play area, which is good news for local children and families and shows the importance of continuing to invest in our community spaces.

“However, residents have been waiting several years to see improvements at the Memorial Park, and it is disappointing that work will not begin until July. After such a long wait, it is important that the project now moves forward without any further delay.”

The Labour group say they are continuing to campaign for high-quality public spaces due to the number of young families now in Keynsham, especially those who live in flats or have limited access to play space.
