Keynsham RUHX jazz show boosts scanner appeal

A JAZZ evening held by Keynsham RUHX Fundraising Group has raised £1,690.

The money has been donated to the PET-CT scanner campaign at Royal United Hospital in Bath.

In the decorated Parish Hall alongside St John’s Church, over a hundred people enjoyed traditional jazz from The Blue Note Jazz Band and vocals from Hannah Wedlock.

Members of the fundraising group prepared ploughman-style suppers, including homemade coleslaw and chutney.

“All I wanted was for everyone to really enjoy themselves,” said Terry Sears, group founder and secretary. “And I think they did!”

Mike Ashbee, of Davies & Way Estate Agents, sponsored the band and attended the event with his wife.

Raffle prizes were donated by Specsavers, Trigaci, The Entertainer toy shop, Smarty dry cleaners, Keynsham Photo Centre, Tesco, The Old Bank, Wild About Flowers, Crumbs, Dog Den Grooming, Mendip Activity Centre and some individual donors.

The Keynsham fundraising group was formed a year ago as part of RUHX, the official charity supporting and helping to provide ‘extras’ for the patients, staff and visitors.

Terry said: “We are so blessed to have such a centre of excellence with state-of-the-art facilities so close to Keynsham, and we want to show our gratitude for all that RUH Bath does for our community.”

Since November 2024, Keynsham RUHX Fundraising Group has raised a total of £3,680.
