Free birthday bus pass website launched

A SCHEME offering people free bus travel during their birthday month has finally gone live.

The £8 million plan was announced in May by Metro Mayor Dan Norris as a way to encourage more people to travel by bus.

Residents need an address in the West of England and a digital photo to apply for a travel pass at www.birthdaybus.co.uk. Under 18s require additional ID.

The year-long scheme was originally scheduled to be available for people with birthdays in July, but the delay in its launch means it is now initially aimed at those with birthdays in August.

Mr Norris said: “We really need more people using buses to cut congestion, pollution and noise – and meet our important and very ambitious 2030 net-zero targets. I hope this will also be a help to residents during this unprecedented cost-of-living crisis. So please sign up today for your free birthday bus pass.”
