Armed police called after Keynsham knife incident

ARMED police were deployed in Keynsham after an incident involving a knife.

An Avon and Somerset police spokesperson said: “One person has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent following an assault in Aesop Drive, in Keynsham, on Sunday June 9 at about 1.40pm.

“One man has been taken to hospital with injuries to his hands which are not believed to be life-threatening.

“Armed officers were deployed, along with response units, to the incident and a cordon was put in place to allow enquiries to take place.

“We understand there is a great deal of concern among our communities concerning knife crime and residents can expect to see a heightened police presence following this incident.

“We remain dedicated to reducing knife crime and serious violence and we encourage anyone with any questions or concerns to speak with their local Neighbourhood Policing team.

The police confirmed on Monday morning (June 10) that the suspect remained in custody and that the victim was still in hospital undergoing further treatment.
