AN INFORMAL reunion of former players and managers of Saltford Junior FC is taking place next month.
The event, at Saltford Sports Club from midday on Saturday April 26, will mark the 30th anniversary of the launch of the junior club.
Saltford Junior Football Club, originally known as Saltford Stars, was founded at the start of the 1994/1995 season.
The first fixtures were two under-9s teams playing teams from Brislington Boys. The matches were played on the Saltford Sports Club field, kicked off by former Bristol Rovers star Paul Hardyman, and used goalposts paid for by Saltford Parish Council.
Sponsors for the newly created junior club included Saltford Motors and Keynsham Lions.
Councillor Duncan Hounsell, who helped found the junior club in 1994, said: “Anyone involved in the early years of the Saltford Junior Football Club is welcome to come along and reminisce.
“There will be a friendly kickabout and a tour of the new facilities. After all this time, many who took part have moved away and contact is lost. I hope that anyone who reads about this reunion will pass the word on. It will be wonderful to meet everyone involved again. Just come along.”
