Labour wins Keynsham by-election by 11 votes

LABOUR defeated Reform UK by just 11 votes in the Keynsham Town Council by-election on May 1.

Deb Cooper (pictured) won 612 votes, with Reform UK’s Daniel Condick receiving 601 votes. The number of rejected ballot papers was 12.

In third place was George Morgan, who stood as a “Longstanding Local Youth Mentor and Volunteer”. He got 411 votes.

Mr Condick was the unsuccessful Conservative candidate in the Keynsham South ward on Bath & North East Somerset Council in 2023. In January this year, he contested the Saltford ward on B&NES Council for Reform UK but came fourth.

George Morgan was also an unsuccessful Conservative candidate in 2023, for Keynsham East ward on B&NES Council.

The turnout was 30.16%. The Liberal Democrats, who have a majority on the town council, did not field a candidate.
