LIFT Broadlands in Keynsham is set to unveil a new dance studio in September as part of a wider programme of investment to transform the school’s facilities.
As well as enhancing provision for students, the £20,000 studio will also be available for community hire for dance, yoga and fitness classes.
It will be created by converting the current gym space, with the fitness suite being relocated to ensure students continue to benefit from high-quality sports facilities alongside a dedicated space for dance and performance.
The development is part of an ongoing programme of improvement across the school estate, with more than £1.5 million invested since 2023 in upgrades including toilet refurbishments, boiler replacement, fencing, resurfaced car parking areas, and internal makeovers such as flooring, decorating, and improved learning environments.
Further major works are also planned this year, including roofing improvements, alongside continued investment in the fabric and safety of the building, with the total investment expected to move towards £2 million.
The school is also developing its creative offer, subject to an external funding bid. Following the success of its first whole-school production in more than 20 years, Matilda, plans are under way to enhance lighting, sound and production facilities to further strengthen drama and performance opportunities for students.
