RESIDENTS are being encouraged to have their say about proposals for a new circular bus route around the town.
Liberal Democrats asked visitors to Keynsham Farmers’ Market to complete a questionnaire as part of a survey by the town council.
The survey, which is also available online, asks residents for their top three choices for a new fixed bus route. The options are:
* A regular shuttle bus around Keynsham South to the town centre (the Meadows, Holmoak, Bilbie Green, Federated Estate, Park Estate and Queens Road areas).
* A regular shuttle bus around Keynsham North including Somerdale to the town centre (the area includes Lays Drive, St Ladoc Road, Stockwood Vale, Bristol Road and others).
* A regular shuttle bus around Keynsham East to the town centre (Chandag Estate, the Hygge development, Wellsway and Bath Road).
* A regular five-day shuttle bus for children to the Chandag Estate schools.
* A regular five-day shuttle bus for Broadlands Academy.
* A regular shuttle bus to the train station.
* A regular shuttle bus for onward journeys at Ashton Way.
The town council is hoping to secure money for the bus service from Section 106 funds paid by developers to Bath and North East Somerset Council, and also from the West of England Combined Authority (WECA).
Town councillor Andy Wait, who was among the Lib Dems at the farmers’ market, described the response from residents as “very good.”
He said: “An orbital route makes a lot of sense but it needs to be at least once an hour and go to the railway station, Somerdale, Broadmead Roundabout for bus connection and around the main estates in the town.”
