Keynsham and Saltford to remember the fallen

PEOPLE will gather in Keynsham and Saltford on Remembrance Sunday to honour the sacrifices of those who fought for this country in military conflicts, including the two world wars.

In Keynsham, a service will be held at 9.25am on November 9 at St John’s Church.

At 10.30am, the parade will go along the High Street via Bath Hill to the Memorial Gates for a service at 10.55am.

Then, at 11.15am, the parade will go up Bath Hill and back along the High Street before dispersing.

Partial road closures will be in place from 9am to 11.30am for the High Street, bottom of Charlton Road by the Ashton Way roundabout, the bottom of Rock Road into Temple Street, and Bath Hill.

In Saltford, Scouts, Guides and Brownies will set off from the green in front of Saltford Hall at 9.30am and parade to St Mary’s Church for a memorial service at 10am.

Due to limited capacity, the church service will be reserved for those in the parade.

At 10.45am, the parade, including local dignitaries, will then proceed along the High Street to the war memorial for a short service and a national silence at 11am.

Saltford Parish Council chair Jon Godfrey will lay a wreath on behalf of the village community. The parade then returns to Saltford Hall to disperse.

Road closures will be in place for the parade. Drivers are asked to avoid the immediate Broadway area from 9.15am and the parade route from 9.30am to 11.15am. The affected roads are Wedmore Road, Broadway, Stratton Road, Norman Road, Beech Road and the High Street between Saltford Hall and St Mary’s Church.
