Keynsham charity fundraiser Daniel dies aged 27

DANIEL Money – the Keynsham junior doctor who inspired an extraordinary charity fundraising campaign – has died after a long battle with bowel cancer.

Since his diagnosis, Daniel, his mum Sarah Stone and their supporters have raised more than £82,000, plus £14,000 in Gift Aid, for Cancer Research UK (CRUK) through various local events. The fundraising will continue in his memory.

Daniel was diagnosed with metastatic bowel cancer aged 24 in November 2022 while working as an F2 junior doctor in Birmingham, having experienced symptoms for only two weeks.

His chemotherapy stopped working in March this year and he was placed under the care of the palliative care team of Birmingham Hospice in May.

Daniel died on September 11, surrounded by family and friends. He was 27.

Daniel wanted the money raised to help fund research so that, in the future, people diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer like him might receive a more positive prognosis than he did.
