MP Norris still not charged 8 months after arrest

LOCAL MP Dan Norris remains on bail eight months on from his arrest.

Mr Norris was arrested in April on suspicion of sexual offences against a girl, rape, child abduction, and misconduct in a public office.

As the Voice went to press, the North East Somerset and Hanham MP remained on police bail and had not been charged.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Investigations into alleged sexual offences are sensitive and complex and as a result it can take a significant amount of time for enquiries to be completed.

“We have an ongoing and active investigation being led by officers with Operation Bluestone, our dedicated rape and serious sexual assault investigation team, and their enquiries are progressing.

“We’re keeping the victim updated on any developments and we’ll continue to give her access to any support she may need.”

Mr Norris was elected Labour MP for in July 2024. Labour suspended him upon his arrest.

More than 1,000 people have signed a petition on change.org calling on Mr Norris to resign.
