20mph limit approved for ‘the lanes’

THE speed limit on two stretches of road between Saltford and Keynsham known locally as ‘the lanes’ is to be reduced, it has been confirmed.

The new 20mph limit will come into force on sections of Manor Road and Courtenay Road on December 29.

On Manor Road, the new limit will start about 700 metres east of its junction with the B3116 Wellsway road and extend east for about 680 metres.

On Courtenay Road, it will start about 450 metres east of its junction with the Wellsway and extend east for about 680 metres.

Bath & North East Somerset Council has agreed to introduce the new speed limits following a request from Saltford parish councillors and Keynsham town councillors.

Saltford Parish Council said: “This change will make these lanes safer for walkers, cyclists, horse riders, and all road users while preserving the rural character of the area.”
