Keynsham Town to unveil vision for future

2026 will be an historic year for Keynsham Town Football Club.

Founded in 1895, it has grown in recent years with nearly 1,000 members in different parts of the club. This year these various sections will come together under one banner, Keynsham Town Community Football Club.

The club owns assets at the Meadows in Greenfield Road, for small-sided junior football, and the stadium at Crown Fields, Bristol Road, where it has the advantage of a 3G pitch for all-day usage.

On Wednesday April 22, the various sections of the club – seniors, juniors (girls and boys), walking football and disability – will meet to formally ratify this coming-together.

Presentations will be made outlining the club’s vision for the future, and there will be plenty of time for questions and answers about the details.

The meeting will be held at the Royal British Legion, Charlton Road, on Wednesday April 22, 7 for 7.30pm.

Everyone with an interest in football in the Keynsham area is invited to attend, including players, parents, spectators, volunteers, sponsors and potential new sponsors, and any interested members of the local community.

On the playing front, the first team in the Jewson Western League Division One, under manager Chris King, has improved its league position with some notable successes.

First, they drew 0-0 away to league leaders Sturminster Newton and have followed this up in recent weeks with victories against local rivals Cadbury Heath (2-1) and Almondsbury (3-2).

These have helped us move away from the foot of the table and should help us maintain our Western League status for next season.

The under-18s have had a successful season and currently lie in third place in the Western Counties Floodlit Youth League, North Division, having completed all of the home matches.

The club have a football bonanza over Easter, the first team having two homes matches. They were due to play Odd Down on Good Friday (April 3) and Hengrove Athletic on Easter Monday (April 6) both at 3 pm in the AJN Stadium.
